Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - Visitors and day tourists from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are now allowed to enter the Mecklenburg Lake District again without good reason after just under three weeks.

The entry ban, which has been in force since April 15, has been lifted since Tuesday due to the lower number of corona infections, as the district in Neubrandenburg announced.

This is possible because the number of officially registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants has now fallen below the threshold of 150 on six consecutive days, the district said.

This value must have fallen below this value for at least five days.

The seven-day incidence on Monday in the district was 101. Before April 15, this value had been over 150 for more than three days and the health department had assessed the infection rate as "diffuse".

Because of the corona situation, tourists from other federal states are generally not allowed to enter Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

This is stipulated in the Corona Land Regulation.

In addition, in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, to which the Baltic Sea island of Usedom belongs, an entry ban applies to all foreigners due to the corona situation, including residents of other regions from MV.

The police had checked this over and over again in recent weeks and forced many drivers to turn back.
