In Austria, a corona vaccination will soon be valid as an entry ticket for restaurants, events and hotels.

The Green Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein announced on Monday in parliament that this should apply 21 days after receiving the first dose.

The large parliamentary chamber, the National Council, decided to change the law by means of which vaccinated and convalescent people can be exempted from the obligation to test if the catering, hotel, sports and culture services are again offering their services from May 19.

"Of course that should also be an incentive to get vaccinated," said Mückstein, explaining the idea behind the amendment, which is a first step towards the introduction of the green passport, as the planned Corona certificate for those who have been vaccinated, recovered and tested in Austria is called becomes.

Before the opening steps on May 19, the number of new corona infections has fallen in recent weeks.

The seven-day incidence in Austria fell to 147 most recently - the same value as in Germany.

Shops and many service providers have been open in all federal states since Monday.

After a four-week lockdown, business people in the federal states of Vienna and Lower Austria also received customers again.

In the remaining seven federal states, trade had ended the lockdown earlier.

The industry is also hoping for a promising new start thanks to many special offers.

This is urgently needed, said the spokesman for the trade association, Rainer Will, the TV broadcaster Oe24.

“Every second retailer has existential fears.” Not least in front of fashion stores in Vienna, there were sometimes long queues.

In Germany, relaxation is only planned for fully vaccinated people.

People who received their second vaccination at least two weeks ago are considered fully vaccinated.

Vaccinated and convalescents will soon be put on an equal footing with people in shops, outdoor restaurants and immigration who can show a negative test result.
