Munich (dpa) - After months of strict corona restrictions, Bavaria will be introducing a series of easing as of next Monday (May 10).

In rural districts and urban districts with a stable seven-day incidence below 100, outdoor catering - until 10 p.m. -, theaters, concert halls, opera houses and cinemas are allowed to open.

The government of Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) decided on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health has to give its formal approval.

And: At the beginning of the Whitsun holidays on May 21, tourism should also be possible again in regions with low corona numbers.

In districts and cities with stable corona numbers of less than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, hotels, holiday apartments and campsites should then be allowed to reopen.

In all of this, hygiene concepts, mask and test obligations apply - the details are now being worked out by the responsible ministries.

Prime Minister Söder said of the Whitsun easing that Bavaria is not just a tourist destination.

It is also psychologically important to have a perspective.

Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) praised the planned easing.

As early as this Thursday, Bavaria will equate people who have been completely vaccinated against Covid-19 with those who have tested negative and will award them further relaxation.

Among other things, people with a full corona vaccination - i.e. usually with two administered vaccine doses - should be exempted from test obligations and from the nightly exit restrictions.

Fully vaccinated persons are not included in the maximum number of contacts allowed.

The state government decided to put the regulation into effect this Thursday, two days before the federal government, said Söder.

They want to send a signal that vaccination is important.

"We are firmly convinced that with such progress the protection of fundamental rights outweighs the freedom of the individual," said Söder.

However, he continued to call for extreme caution.

The third corona wave has not yet broken.

At the secondary schools in Bavaria, the previous, stricter limit for distance teaching will remain until the Whitsun holidays.

Elementary schools are allowed to offer up to a seven-day incidence of 165 alternating classes in all classes from next Monday.

At secondary schools, on the other hand, the previous limit of 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days will initially remain.

Only after the Whitsun holidays - from June 7th - the limit value 165 should also apply there, as provided for in the federal emergency brake.

Exceptions still apply to final grades and fourth graders, who have alternate lessons even with higher numbers.
