Berlin (dpa / bb) - Taiwo Awoniyi resumed training at Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Union Berlin on Tuesday after his thigh injury.

The 23-year-old attacker from Nigeria had been absent since mid-February and underwent a tougher running test in the second part of the training session under the supervision of fitness trainer Martin Krüger.

It is still open whether the loan from Liverpool FC will be in the squad for the upcoming away game at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky).

However, it is to be expected that the five-time successful scorer will still be able to play this season.

Shortly before the end of the training, Leon Dajaku also entered the training field after a long break.

The loan from Bayern Munich recently struggled with an ankle injury and corona disease and completed exercises under the direction of rehabilitation trainer Christopher Busse.

However, the offensive man is no longer expected to play this season.

Some other Union professionals also trained individually on Tuesday.

After his thigh injury, striker Max Kruse only played a limited role in the home game against Werder Bremen (3-1).

For the ex-national player, however, it should be enough for one mission at the weekend.

Midfielder Grischa Prömel only worked in the cabin area.
