Munich (dpa) - From now on, all teachers at secondary and vocational schools in Bavaria can hope for a timely corona vaccination.

"We can now make a vaccination offer to all teachers in Bavaria who are involved in face-to-face teaching for education," said Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) in Munich on Monday.

So far, only the teachers at primary and special schools have had the option of preferential vaccination.

The Ministry of Culture announced that the offer is explicitly aimed primarily at teachers who regularly teach face-to-face, who work in emergency care or who, for example, are used to supervise school during the final exams. The school administrators would issue the teachers concerned with a corresponding confirmation to prove the priority vaccination authorization for the vaccination center. "With the new vaccination offers for teachers at secondary schools, secondary schools, grammar schools and vocational schools, we are now taking another important step towards greater safety," emphasized Piazolo.

The President of the Bavarian Teachers' Association (BLLV), Simone Fleischmann, said the decision was not only an important signal, it was absolutely necessary.

"Every teacher who is supposed to set foot in school needs a vaccination offer," the FSVO demanded - this has now been fulfilled.
