This was reported by the Russian permanent mission in Brussels.

"Ambassador Chizhov gave additional explanations regarding the measures announced by Russia on April 30, 2021 in response to the unilateral decisions of the European Union," Interfax was quoted as saying.

The importance of diplomatic efforts to rectify the current unhealthy situation in the dialogue between Moscow and Brussels was also noted.

The statement says that the Russian side has reaffirmed its readiness for this work.

The EU, in turn, declared its complete rejection and condemnation by the EU countries and institutions of the decision to impose sanctions.

On April 30, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that, on the basis of reciprocity, entry into the country was closed for eight citizens of EU countries and representatives of European structures. Among them was the President of the European Parliament David Maria Sassoli.
