“Deputy Foreign Minister Nizar Kheyrallah summoned the Turkish Chargé d'Affaires in Baghdad to the ministry on Monday 3 May and handed him a note of protest, in which the Iraqi government expressed its strong outrage and condemnation over the presence of Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar in the Iraqi territories without coordination or prior approval from the competent authorities and his meeting with Turkish troops that are illegally located on the territory of (Iraq), ”RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

It is noted that "the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that the Iraqi government strongly rejects the continuing violations of Iraqi sovereignty and the inviolability of Iraqi territories and airspace by the Turkish armed forces."

Earlier, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported that the Turkish special forces are participating in a major operation in northern Iraq.
