Wolfsburg (dpa / lni) - A man wanted for attempted manslaughter was arrested in Wolfsburg after a failed break-in at a school.

The 19-year-old is said to have seriously injured a 29-year-old friend in a dispute, as the police announced on Monday.

On the night of Saturday he was arrested after a witness reference to the attempted break-in in the city center.

A week earlier, the man is said to have injured the acquaintance so badly in a physical altercation that she was first taken to a hospital and later had to be transferred to a special clinic.

After an operation, the woman is now out of danger, as a police spokesman said.

The background is still unclear.

The public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig classified the act as attempted manslaughter and applied for pre-trial detention against the alleged perpetrator.

The 19-year-old could not be found at first.

After the failed break-in at school, he was handed over to justice.

Another person escaped.
