Paderborn (dpa / lnw) - Because the smoke alarm beeped on her, a 21-year-old woman in Paderborn became aware of a fire in a neighbor's apartment.
As the police announced on Thursday, the woman knocked on the apartment below her and led the apparently drunk tenant (59) out of the smoke-filled apartment.
The young woman also rang the other neighbors.
The fire brigade put out the fire.
The police discovered burnt cloths in the apartment.
She is now investigating the 59-year-old for negligent arson.
The man and his neighbor were both hospitalized with suspected smoke inhalation.
