Berlin (dpa / bb) - Times are getting better for job seekers in Brandenburg.

There are more and more new hires, according to data from the Federal Employment Agency.

In April the number of unemployed was 82,858. That was 2801 fewer than in March.

The unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent and thus to the level of a year ago.

In April 2020, the corona crisis first made itself felt on the labor market.

"The usual upturn in the labor market at this time of the year is particularly noticeable in Brandenburg," said the Berlin-Brandenburg agency manager Ramona Schröder.

"This confirms the trend that Brandenburg is currently getting through the crisis a little better than Berlin."

Meanwhile, the number of vacancies in Brandenburg is again above the level of the previous year, the reports of short-time work decreased.

According to the latest available figures from January, a good 67,000 employees were on short-time work in Brandenburg at that time.
