A study of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Germany revealed a significant increase in the number of Muslims in the past few years;

To register 5.6 million as a result of the migration of refugees to it.

The study - which was announced by the office in cooperation with the German Ministry of the Interior - was titled “Muslim Life in Germany 2020, and was commissioned by the Islam Conference in Germany.

According to the study, between 5.3 and 5.6 million Muslims currently live in Germany, which is equivalent to 6.4% to 6.7% of the total population, and compared to the results of the last study conducted in 2015, the number of Muslims increased by about 900,000 people.

The number of Muslims of Turkish origin in Germany is 2.5 million, which is equivalent to 45% of the total number of Muslims.

The study also indicated that there are 1.5 million Muslims coming from Arabic-speaking countries, 19% of them from the Middle East, and 8% from North Africa.

She explained that 21% of the total number of Muslims in the country are children under 15 years old, 22% are between 15 and 24 years old, and 5% are over 65 years old, pointing out that 47% of Muslims are German citizens.

Office head Hans Eckhard Sommer said that in the context of immigration from Muslim countries in the Near and Middle East, Muslim population groups have become more diverse in recent years.

He added that the analyzes show that the extent of the effect of religion on integration is often exaggerated, explaining that other aspects such as the duration of residence, reasons for immigration, or social status affect the integration process to a much greater extent than religious affiliation.
