Soltau (dpa / lni) - The police took a large-scale action against clan crime.

Around 150 police and tax authorities searched commercial buildings and private accommodation in the Heidekreis as well as in Bremen, Verden and Hanover in the fight against criminal family structures on Thursday, as the police in Soltau announced.

In the Heidekreis, from where the affected family mainly operates, there are eleven properties in the villages of Walsrode, Bomlitz, Bad Fallingbostel, Hodenhagen and Soltau.

A mid five-digit amount of cash was seized - according to the police, investigations into the financial situation are ongoing.

The police investigate fraud.

In addition, the weapons and narcotics law had been violated, it said.

A clan is a group of people who are linked to one another by a common ethnic origin and predominantly by kinship.

The operation was coordinated by the “Fahrradwerk” project, in which authorities and decision-makers in the Heidekreis work together to take action against biker crime, criminal family structures and organized crime.

Since 2013, Lower Saxony has been the first federal state to create a separate situation report on clan crime.

The police have been using a uniform concept since March 2018.

Among other things, it is about taking consistent action against all forms of crime, confiscating cars and siphoning off assets obtained through crimes.
