US intelligence will intervene to counter foreign interference

The US intelligence service has initiated the creation of a center designated to counter hostile foreign influence. Analysts at the new facility will receive information on foreign interference in US internal affairs, analyze it and provide conclusions to the country's leadership.

The purpose of the center is to effectively counter the influence of different countries which, according to Washington, represent a threat. Russia is among them. The center will focus on the coordination and integration of intelligence related to hostile influence, integrating specialists with relevant and different skills to better understand and monitor the situation, explained the functions of the new entity created the office of the director of intelligence national.

According to the statement, the center must include analysts from every branch of the intelligence community, including those related to international relations and security. The center will investigate hostile influence on the US by Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

In March, National Intelligence, led by Avril Haines, released a comprehensive report on states that attempted to interfere in the 2020 US presidential election. "We believe President Putin and the Russian state supported and campaigned to influence elections of 2020 ", it reads. The purpose of this campaign was to discredit Biden and the Democratic Party, support Trump, undermine public confidence in the electoral process and exacerbate social and political divisions in the United States, the document says. At the same time, it is argued that there was no direct cyber attack on the infrastructure by Moscow, Russia was only engaged in information gathering. The report also states that theIran tried to influence the elections (to undermine the position of Republican candidate Donald Trump), while China evaluated the feasibility of the interference and abandoned it, having realized that there were no good candidates for it in the American elections.
