Dresden (dpa / sn) - During the corona pandemic and especially the lockdowns, the Saxony child protection association is assuming an increase in violence against children in families.

"Parents simply reach their limits through homeschooling, their own home office or even siblings present," said the chairwoman of the board, Christina Koch, before the day of non-violent upbringing (April 30) in Dresden.

"When you are in the affect, you can get loud, scold or physically assault."

School and daycare closings led to isolation, many children are in a precarious position and for some “their own home is not a safe place”.

Nonviolent upbringing is “more important than ever,” Koch appealed with a view to the next few weeks.

Facilities and institutions for children would have to remain open as long as possible under corona protection conditions and trusted teachers, educators or social workers had to be available in problematic cases.
