Hamburg (dpa) - The second division soccer team Hamburger SV has also remained without a win in the fifth game in a row and has thus lost further ground in the promotion battle.

The team of head coach Daniel Thioune did not get more than 1: 1 (0: 0) in the home game against Karlsruher SC.

With 52 points now, Hamburg remains third in the table behind VfL Bochum (60) and Greuther Fürth (57).

Simon Terodde put HSV in the lead after a penalty shot in the Volksparkstadion (56th minute), but Daniel Gordon practically equalized with a head (57th).

The Hamburger continued their desperate performance in the second half of the season.

The team has been without a win for five games, in the past twelve games HSV only managed two point threes and crashed from its comfortable position after a strong first half of the season.

Against Karlsruhe, the Hanseatic players only played for 30 minutes, went resolutely into the duels and looked more determined than last.

But there was often a lack of precision.

After the initial printing phase, the hamburgers subsided.

The guests, who with eight wins this season are among the strongest away teams in the league, did without early pressing and gave the hosts plenty of space.

So Hamburg had more of the game without getting good chances.

KSC, on the other hand, could have taken the lead through Marvin Wanitzek (33rd) - but he narrowly missed.

Trainer Daniel Thioune had increasingly relied on experienced forces, whom he believes will be more stable with the nervous strain in the ascent race.

"We have to be free in the pear," was his demand.

But even they could not give the broken game a line.

Terodde from the penalty spot had also shown nerves.

He scored his 21st goal of the season in the margin after goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck had initially parried.

The KSC also demonstrated its self-confidence with the supposed promotion favorites of this season.

In the third game within a week, Baden did not go top speed, but had the HSV attacks largely under control.

In the past eight games, they have only won one, but drawn six.
