April 29, 2021 It is the battle for water between the Tajik and Kyrgyz armies, who blame each other for the outbreak of hostilities with the use of armored vehicles on both sides.

Tajikistan accuses Kyrgyzstan of taking over a water distribution point, in violation of bilateral agreements.

The Tajik military has reported that according to maps from 1924 to 1927 and 1989, this site belongs to Tajikistan and has been used since 1968 for irrigation and water supply in the border areas of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Kyrgyzstan, on the other hand, replies that the Tajik side "caused the conflict" on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border and continues "to exacerbate the situation". According to Kyrgyz sources, the border troops and special forces of the Tajik Interior Ministry opened a "massive fire", using mortars, machine guns and automatic rifles, at the Golovnoy water distribution point, located on the Kyrgyz territory.

Also according to Kyrgyz sources, the Tajik military opened fire on the outposts of the Kyrgyz border guards of Kapchigai, Min-Bulak and Dostuk. In response to these actions, Kyrgyzstan seized the border outpost Hoja A'llo.

The provisional death toll in Kyrgyzstan is 1 dead and 20 injured. Tajikistan reported 9 injured instead.
