Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg public prosecutor's office has demanded life imprisonment for a 50-year-old who is said to have doused his ex-wife and ten-year-old son with gasoline and set them on fire.

As a spokesman for the court said on Thursday, the prosecution also requested the particular gravity of the guilt on Wednesday.

In that case, early release after 15 years would be as good as impossible.

The defense was expected to plead on Thursday, and the regional court could pronounce the verdict on Tuesday.

Previously, NDR 90.3 reported about it.

The public prosecutor accuses the man of two attempts to murder.

He is said to have stabbed the then 40-year-old woman on May 1st.

Then he broke into the apartment in the Lurup district, showered his ten-year-old son and his wife with gasoline and set them on fire.

The twelve-year-old daughter was able to save herself on a balcony of the burning apartment - although also doused with gasoline - and alert the rescue workers.

In the days before the attack, the woman had stated, according to the prosecutor, that the separation was final.

The mother and son survived with life-threatening injuries.

The apartment burned out completely.

The father also suffered severe burns.
