Chad: rebels claim to have entered the town of Nokou in Kanem

The army and the Fact rebels still face each other in Kanem province about 250 kilometers from the capital Ndjamena.

The army sent numerous reinforcements earlier this week to Mao's town.

The rebels claim to have entered the town of Nokou this Thursday morning, about fifty kilometers from the Chadian forces.

The rebels of the Fact

claim this morning to have brought down a combat helicopter of the Chadian army coming to bombard their positions.

The destruction of this aircraft allowed them, they say, to advance and enter the town of Nokou.

They claim that the army now avoids all ground combat, preferring aerial bombardments.

And for this reason indicates the spokesman of the rebel movement, they will systematically shoot down any aircraft that will fly over their positions.

This applies to Chadian aircraft, but also French, they warn, which they accuse of helping and informing Ndjamena about their position.

On the side of the Chadian army, no communication for the moment.

On the other hand, this Wednesday, sources close to the authorities affirmed that the army had succeeded in scattering the rebels in this region of western Chad.

And that the air force went into action and destroyed several rebel vehicles.

The army which since Tuesday has sent numerous reinforcements to the town of Mao about fifty kilometers from Nokou.
