On Thursday, April 29, Moscow will host the first night rehearsal of the Victory Day parade on Red Square.

According to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, the columns of military equipment will start from Nizhniye Mnevniki Street, where hangars with combat vehicles are deployed, and then proceed through Presnya and Tverskaya.

This year, a review of troops in honor of the anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany will take place on the traditional holiday date - May 9.

In 2020, due to restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic, the Victory Parade in the capital was postponed to June 24 - on this day in 1945, the first solemn procession of Soviet troops took place on Red Square to commemorate the victory over the Third Reich.

In total, more than 300 units of military equipment are located on the territory of the temporary park in Nizhni Mnevniki with an area of more than 9 hectares.

This number includes the main part of the mechanized convoy (more than 190 vehicles), which will pass through the paving stones of Red Square on May 9, reserve equipment and support equipment.

In Nizhniye Mnevniki, tent-mobile shelters with points for washing, painting, servicing and repairing combat vehicles have been installed for storing equipment and carrying out various works.

“The deployed points are capable of simultaneously servicing more than 80 units of military equipment.

In addition, there are warehouses for military-technical property and fuel and lubricants on the territory of the park, ”the Ministry of Defense said in a release.

Demonstration of modern technology

The second night training for the Victory Day parade in Moscow will take place on May 4, and the dress rehearsal will take place on May 7.

About 12 thousand servicemen and cadets of military institutions will take part in the review of troops in the capital, of which 500 people will operate ground military equipment.

In addition to the crews of the legendary T-34, which will lead the mechanized convoy, preparatory measures are now taken on the calculations of modern T-72B3M, T-80BVM, T-90M "Breakthrough" and T-14 tanks on the "Armata" platform, tracked armored vehicles BMP-3 and BMP -2 with a fighting compartment "Berezhok", as well as a promising BMP "Kurganets-25".

BTR-82A, armored personnel carriers on the Boomerang platform, vehicles of the military police and Rosguard troops will pass from the wheeled samples of armored vehicles across Red Square.

“The mechanized convoy also includes five types of armored vehicles with increased security of the Typhoon family, and the Typhoon-Air Defense model will travel across Red Square for the first time,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense notes.

The equipment of the Russian artillery and missile forces will be presented at the Victory Parade with the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system, the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, the advanced Koalitsiya-SV system and the Iskander-M operational-tactical complex.

Airborne vehicles BMD-4M and BTR-MDM "Rakushka" will pass from the Airborne Forces along Red Square.

The air defense troops sent to Moscow modern long, medium and short-range anti-aircraft missile systems: S-400 Triumph, Buk-M3, Tor-M2, Pantsir-S.

In addition, the mechanized convoy includes calculations of the modernized TOS-1A heavy multiple launch rocket launcher system, combat vehicles of the remote mine clearance engineering system, and launchers of the Yars strategic missile system.

This year, on May 9, it is planned to hold the air part of the Victory Parade.

76 units of aircraft will fly over Moscow: strategic bombers Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, Il-78 tankers, heavy military transport Il-76, Su-35S fighters, Su-34 fighter-bombers, Su-24M bombers.

For the first time, the air part of the review of troops in honor of the end of the Great Patriotic War will be opened by the world's most cargo-lifting Mi-26 helicopters.

They should be followed by the crews of the Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters, the Mi-35, Ka-52 attack helicopters and the Berkuts aerobatic team on the Mi-28N.

The aviation part of the parade will be completed by the MiG-31K, Su-57 and groups of aircraft: the "tactical wing" of the Lipetsk Aviation Center, the "Cuban Diamond" - "Russian Knights" on the Su-30SM and "Swifts" on the MiG-29, as well as six Su attack aircraft -25, which will color the sky in the colors of the Russian tricolor.

"Filigree driving"

From March to the end of April, training of crews of military equipment and ceremonial crews took place in Alabin near Moscow.

There is a space corresponding to the size of Red Square and adjacent streets.

The passage of servicemen and a mechanized convoy was practiced three times a week, regardless of weather conditions.

Future participants in the procession in the center of the Russian capital must strictly observe a number of rules.

For example, the crews of combat vehicles must move at a speed of 12 km / h.

The organizers of the Victory Parade proceed from the assumption that if the vehicles pass faster, the spectators will not have time to enjoy its beauty and power.

If the speed is lower, the units will have to wait too long.

In addition to maintaining the speed limit, during the Victory Parade trainings, the skill of maintaining the distance between cars, the sequence of movement and cornering is practiced.

Before night training, dress rehearsal and solemn procession on the morning of May 9, all equipment undergoes a thorough inspection, washing and painting.

Also, all cars are marked with festive stickers-emblems with the image of a red star and St. George's ribbon.

As Alexei Podberezkin, director of the Center for Military and Political Research at MGIMO, noted in an interview with RT, the servicemen are extremely attentive to the process of preparing combat vehicles, although Russian equipment is adapted for operation in the harshest natural and climatic conditions.

According to the expert, in order for the troop review to be perfect, the organizers of the Victory Parade are trying to attract the most qualified crews of military equipment - military personnel who are able to flawlessly maintain speed, distance and carry out repair and maintenance activities.

“Organization of the Victory Parade is a very difficult matter.

This task is entrusted to the troops of the Moscow garrison, to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces Oleg Salyukov and his team.

All actions are worked out in the most thorough way, "Podberezkin emphasized.

According to the expert, the most time-consuming and difficult element of preparation of ceremonial crews is the preservation of movement intervals.

The hardest thing, as Podberezkin says, falls on the crews of heavy vehicles - tanks and artillery howitzers.

“You need to understand that not all servicemen operating parade equipment are contract soldiers.

There are also conscripts among them - these are, as a rule, drivers-mechanics.

For them, the parade is, of course, a great honor, but at the same time a difficult test.

Everything needs to be done ideally, without succumbing to excitement, ”explained Podberezkin.

In turn, Andrei Koshkin, a full member of the Academy of Military Sciences of the Russian Federation, said that working out the elements of synchronous movement as part of a mechanized column requires rather lengthy training.

The expert believes that the key role in success is played by competent instructions from the commanders of the parade crews.

“The parade requires filigree driving.

For example, in order for the crews to feel the nuances of the upcoming task at the very beginning of the training, the "walking by machine" method is used - this is a tactical drill, in which servicemen with communication means pass the route without equipment, "said the interlocutor of RT.

According to the expert, the annual Victory Parade is a kind of examination of the training of Russian military personnel, but at the same time a significant event in the life of Russian society, for which it is important to see the results of the development of the armed forces and honor the memory of the Great Patriotic War.

A similar point of view in the RT commentary was expressed by the editor-in-chief of the magazine Arsenal of the Fatherland, Viktor Murakhovsky.

The expert is convinced that it is advisable to celebrate May 9 with a military parade and a demonstration of modern combat vehicles.

“In Soviet times, there were practically no parades in honor of the Victory, but in those years, for obvious reasons, there were many people who went through the war, and now they are almost gone. The demonstration of modern technology today is a tribute and a reminder of the power of our weapons. It was with military power that the Soviet Union crushed Nazi Germany and its allies, ”Murakhovsky stressed.
