Berlin (AP) - Dirk Zingler will continue to lead the Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Union Berlin.

The 56-year-old, who has been running the club since summer 2004, was appointed by the club's board of directors for another term, as Union announced on Wednesday.

According to the statutes, the new term of office of the Presidium begins on July 1, 2021 and ends on June 30, 2025.

"The development of our club into a Bundesliga club, which will start its third season in Germany's top division in a few months, is inextricably linked to the work of Dirk Zingler and his colleagues on the executive board," said the chairman of the supervisory board, Thomas Koch.

The previous board members Dirk Thieme, Jörg Hinze, Oskar Kosche and Lutz Munack will also accompany Zingler during the new term of office.

The president proposed his experienced team, and the supervisory board followed the suggestion.

Zingler himself sets the goals for the new term of office: “We have challenging tasks ahead of us: establishing Union in the Bundesliga, expanding our stadium, building the associated clubhouse, and building the new youth performance center with the aim of training Bundesliga players. »
