Overseas Network, April 28. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said on Wednesday (28th) that, due to a lack of mutual respect, the relationship between Russia and the United States is now worse than during the Cold War.

According to the Associated Press, Lavrov said in an interview with Russian state television that Moscow is ready to normalize relations with Washington at any time, but warned that the United States should stop treating Russia in its current posture.

Lavrov warned that if the United States avoids mutual respectful dialogue on the basis of a balance of interests, "our two countries will live under conditions of the'Cold War' or worse."

Lavrov said that during the Cold War, tensions between Russia (Soviet) and the United States developed rapidly and dangerous crisis situations often appeared, but the two sides also received mutual respect.

"In my opinion, this kind of respect is now insufficient."

On April 15, the United States announced sanctions and expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats in retaliation for Washington’s alleged intervention by the Kremlin in the US election, large-scale cyber attacks, and other hostile activities.

In this regard, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated on the 16th that Russia will respond equally to the new sanctions imposed by the United States on Russia, deciding to expel 10 American diplomats in Russia and barring 8 American citizens from entering the country.
