Ingelheim (dpa / lrs) - A 77-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident with a truck on Autobahn 60 near Ingelheim am Rhein.
As the police announced on Wednesday, the truck driver continued to drive although, according to witnesses, he had noticed the accident.
At noon, the truck had switched from the right lane to the middle lane in the direction of Mainz, in which the motorcyclist was driving.
The 77-year-old from the Mainz-Bingen district fell and sustained serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter.
The exact course of the accident was so far unclear, it said.
According to the police, the motorway was completely closed for one hour in the direction of Mainz and could then be used in one lane.
The public prosecutor's office was involved, an expert should examine the accident site.
The police are now looking for witnesses.
