Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Federal Employment Agency presented the Hamburg labor market figures for April this Thursday.

The usual spring revival and the consequences of the corona pandemic had almost disappeared in March in the Hanseatic city, so that the number of unemployed had only fallen by one percent compared to the previous month to 86,117.

The unemployment rate fell by 0.1 points to 8.0 percent compared to February, but is 1.8 points higher than at the beginning of the corona pandemic in March a year ago.

This means that Hamburg, with its strong economic focus on industry, the port economy and tourism, is in a significantly worse position than Germany as a whole with a March unemployment rate of 6.2 percent.

The corona restrictions have hit the catering and hotel industries particularly hard because tourist tourism has practically come to a standstill with the corona lockdowns.

The deadline for collecting the current figures was April 13th.
