Supporters of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi expressed support for the implementation of the death sentences, considering that it was a fair retribution that came on time, especially after the episodes of the series "The Choice", which showed the violence that took place in the country after the Rab'a and al-Nahda massacres.

Observers considered that these wholesale executions came as a response from the Egyptian regime to the calls for reconciliation announced by some opponents, expressing their willingness to line up behind the regime in the face of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam crisis, which is an existential crisis that threatens Egypt with drought and thirst.

In this context, the director of the "Shehab" Center for Human Rights, Khalaf Bayoumi, said that it is not usual to carry out death sentences during Ramadan due to the nature of the month and its place among Egyptians in particular, but that there is no legal text that prevents this.

In a previous interview with Al-Jazeera Net, he considered that these executions were disappointing and frustrating all the efforts and attempts made to improve the image of the Egyptian human rights file, in light of the growing and escalating accusations against him, indicating that the case lacked all the guarantees of a fair trial.

In the context, the director of Human Rights Monitor, Salma Ashraf, considered that the execution of the ruling coincided with the broadcast of the series "Choice 2", perhaps motivated by the Egyptian street shipping, and she also did not rule out that he himself had an influence in the decision-making. .

In a previous interview with Al-Jazeera Net, she expressed her fear of carrying out other death sentences during the month of Ramadan, to exploit the shipment that occurred to a sector of Egyptians, in the context of trying to end and close these cases, noting that it has been proven beyond any doubt that the regime has directed the implementation of many death sentences, even If the convicts appear innocence.

A human rights conviction

Earlier today, 6 Egyptian human rights organizations condemned, in a joint statement, what they described as the unprecedented expansion of executions in Egypt.

This came after the execution of the death sentences against 9 of those who were sentenced to death by hanging, in what is known as the storming of the Kerdasa police station.

The statement said that the trial was marred by gross violations of the fair trial rules, as well as its implementation without notifying the families of the convicts or their lawyers or allowing them to have a final visit as stipulated in Egyptian law.

The statement confirmed that several violations of the defendants ’rights occurred during the consideration of the case, including the absence of lawyers with the defendants during the investigations, and the defendants’ failure to communicate with their lawyers during the trial.

The human rights organizations called for an end to the mass death sentences that are suspected of political retaliation, and for the implementation of death sentences to be postponed for the time being, especially in light of the significant increase in the rate of sentencing and the pace of their execution, according to the statement.

Among the organizations signing the statement are the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, the Nadim Center for Combating Violence and Torture, the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms, the Regional Center for Rights and Freedoms, the Arab Network for Human Rights Information, and the Foundation for Freedom of Thought and Expression.
