Potsdam (AP) - Four people were killed in a Potsdam clinic.

A police spokesman said they died as a result of "external violence".

Another person was seriously injured - also by external violence.

A 51-year-old woman was arrested on urgent suspicions.

The police initially did not provide any details about their identity.

According to information from the “Tagesspiegel”, the dead are said to have been patients.

There was initially no official confirmation of this.

Police cars and ambulances were parked in front of the Oberlinklinik on Rudolf-Breitscheid-Strasse.

The emergency services have been in action since shortly before 9 p.m.

The emergency pastoral care was also on site.

Police officers were standing in front of a building on the clinic premises.

It was not initially disclosed whether the victims were patients.

Where exactly the crime took place was initially not disclosed until early in the morning.

Among other things, the Oberlinklinik, a specialist orthopedic clinic, is located on the site in the Babelsberg district of Potsdam.

According to the information on the website, it has around 300 employees.

In 2018 the clinic had 162 beds.

There are also other facilities on the site.

The police announced further information later that night.
