Berlin (dpa / bb) - Whether construction, agriculture, administration, craft or industry: In Brandenburg companies are still looking for new people.

The corresponding index of the Federal Employment Agency has been increasing again slightly for several months.

For April, the agency registered a slight increase in the demand for personnel in Berlin as well.

Today the agency reports how unemployment has developed in the region.

It had fallen slightly in March.

In Berlin the rate was 10.5 percent, in Brandenburg 6.4 percent.

Overall, the agency assessed the situation on the labor market in March as difficult.

In December, 176,000 women and men in the region were on short-time work.

In Berlin, the momentum had already decreased before the Corona crisis.

The registered demand for workers is only about half as strong today as at the peak in March 2019. The labor market in the capital is suffering more than that in Brandenburg due to the strong service sector in the Corona crisis.

The deadline for collecting the new labor market figures was April 13th.
