US President Biden made it clear on the 28th (local time) that he would defend US interests in relations with China.

According to the speech data distributed by the White House, President Biden said in a speech at the first Congressional Senate-House Assembly meeting after taking office today that he told Chinese President Xi Jinping that the United States welcomes competition but does not want conflict.

President Biden has emphasized that he will face unfair trade practices that undermine US workers and industries, including subsidies from state-owned companies and the theft of US technology and intellectual property.

He also told Xi that the United States would maintain a strong military presence in the Indo-Pacific, as with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Europe, and emphasized that this is not the beginning of a conflict, but a preventive measure.

President Biden emphasized the value of human rights, saying, "No responsible US president can remain silent when basic human rights are violated. The president must represent the essence of our country."
