Gera / Altenburg (dpa / th) - In the process of the violent death of a man in Altenburg, a verdict is to be pronounced today.

Two young men from Altenburg have had to answer before the Gera district court since mid-March because they are said to be responsible for the man's brutal asphyxiation a year ago.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the 19 and 23-year-old German accused of "having maliciously murdered a person together".

The classification as murder was justified by the fact that they had taken advantage of the innocence and defenselessness of their victim.

The two defendants are said to have attacked their victim in his apartment with a knife, blows and kicks, so that she suffered severe fractures and died of respiratory paralysis.

On the four days of the trial so far, the court had heard a number of witnesses, including police officers and relatives of the victim.

Interrogations are also expected to take place on the last day of the negotiations.
