Los Angeles (dpa) - The 60s cartoon series "Flintstones" about the popular Stone Age family is getting a sequel.
The animated series with the title “Bedrock” is being reissued by the Warner Bros. Animation studio with Elizabeth Banks (47, “Pitch Perfect”) as the producer.
Lindsay Kerns (“Jurassic World: New Adventures”) is on board as a screenwriter.
“It is a real“ yabba dabba ”joy to write this,” Kerns shared on Twitter.
With the cry of "Yabba Dabba Doo!"
the cartoon character Fred Feuerstein made himself known and loved around the world.
The "Flintstones" adventures by the animators Joseph Barbera and William Hanna with more than 150 episodes were a big hit on US television from 1960 to 1966 and then worldwide.
It was the first cartoon series in the evening program.
The main characters in the Stone Age suburb are Fred and Wilma Feuerstein with their daughter Pebbles and the neighbors Betty and Barney Rubble with their little son Bamm-Bamm.

"Bedrock" is now settled 20 years later, Fred is about to retire, Pebbles has grown up and is looking for her own way in the more progressive Bronze Age.
Actress Banks will lend her voice to Pebbles, reported the industry journal "Variety".
