Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - The DTM cannot drive at the Norisring this summer either.

As the organizer of the Motorsport Club Nürnberg (MCN) announced on Wednesday, the date from July 2nd to 4th cannot be kept due to the corona pandemic.

A move to autumn is now being examined.

«We don't want to miss our traditional event at the Norisring for a second year.

That is why we leave no stone unturned and, together with the (umbrella organization) ITR, are exploring the options for moving to autumn by the end of May.

The city of Nuremberg has assured us that it will give us benevolent support ”, explained Wolfgang Schlosser from the Nuremberg Motorsport Club.

The Norisring race was actually planned as the second round on the DTM calendar after the start in Monza (June 18-20).

“In the past few weeks we have postponed the start of the complex route construction several times.

But now we - the city of Nuremberg, the ITR and the MCN - had to find out that an event at the beginning of July is not feasible due to the prevailing corona situation, "explained Schlosser.

For the organizers of the Norisring race, spectators are financially essential.

Due to the corona pandemic, sporting events are currently taking place without an audience.
