Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - According to Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) in North Rhine-Westphalia, around 180,000 corona vaccine doses can be administered on this Wednesday if the course goes well.
"That is one percent of the population and that is roughly the rate of vaccination that the US has in one day," he said in the state parliament on Wednesday.
The federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia has around 18 million inhabitants.
"Of course we are nowhere near as far as the USA," said the head of government, referring to the much larger quantities of vaccine in the USA.
But the example can be used to explain that NRW can do as much in one day as large countries.
The general practitioners played an important role, as they might exceed the million mark for vaccinations in North Rhine-Westphalia this Wednesday.
The general practitioners' practices received almost 450,000 doses from Biontech / Pfizer this week and Wednesday is usually the day on which vaccinations are carried out in the doctor's offices.
