Very nice catch for the customs officers of Hendaye in the Basque Country.

On Friday April 16, they discovered nearly 1.2 tonnes of cannabis in the trailer of a heavy truck during a check at the Biriatou motorway toll on the A63 motorway not far from the Franco-Spanish border.

According to France Bleu, the merchandise was notably hidden behind pallets of toilet paper and paper towels.

The drugs were concealed in Moroccan suitcases and plastic bags.

There were cannabis resin balls but also cannabis herb (1,170 kilos of resin and 28 kilos of weed).

On the spot, the police arrested several people including the driver of the truck.

The investigation was handed over to the federal police.
