The spread of infection in Sörmland is decreasing - but not enough

Last week, 1,077 people tested positive for covid-19, Region Sörmland shows preliminary figures.

This is a decrease of 200 people compared to the week before when the number of infected people began to decrease for the first time after several weeks of upturn.

- Hopefully people stay outdoors so they infect each other less, but it is uncertain as we have a more contagious virus and I feel that not enough people follow recommendations to reduce the spread of infection, says Signar Mäkitalo, Region Sörmland's infection control doctor.

"We are most contagious when we are quite healthy"

Signar Mäkitalo has begun to take a closer look at the high spread of infection.

He notes, among other things, that face masks play a big role in places where you can not keep two meters away.

- We mostly infect the first day and maybe just before we get sick.

And we see that you are largely infected in the workplace.
