On Tuesday, Minister of Digitalisation Anders Ygeman received an investigation to prevent illegal trade by mail.

The proposals should primarily make it easier for postal staff to contact the police.

With reference to the duty of confidentiality, staff must still not be allowed to open letters, but suspicion must arise in another way.

As the law is currently drafted, a shipment must be forwarded to the recipient, even if a package has broken and some form of suspicious substance has fallen out.

The government's investigator Kazimir Åberg instead wants postal staff in such a situation to be able to contact the police.

Something Anders Ygeman welcomes:

- I think that these are powerful proposals to make drug sales more difficult via postal items, says the Minister for Digitalisation about the investigation which will now be sent for consultation.
