Golzow / Berlin (dpa / bb) - 15 children from the “Kinder von Golzow” elementary school (Märkisch-Oderland district) swing the baton once a week.

The Berlin music teacher Alexander Saier is teaching them the basics of conducting this school year.

Each child could choose a piece of music and practice beat, rhythm and body language.

As soon as the corona restrictions are lifted, the Golzowers want to conduct a real orchestra.

According to the music teacher, the children do not have to be able to play an instrument or read notes to conduct, but the older ones already have previous knowledge.

With the project “Jugend dirigiert”, Saier and the Golzow elementary school have been nominated in two categories for this year's “Opus Classic” award, which will be awarded at the end of October this year.
