It was at the end of August 2020 that it started to burn in Polarbröd's bread factory in Älvsbyn.

The factory was completely destroyed and hundreds of people lost their jobs.

Polarbröd went out quickly and announced that the factory would be rebuilt.

The board has previously decided on investments totaling SEK 359 million to build up the bakery.

On April 22, a decision was made on an additional investment of 55 million.

The reason is that they want to increase the cooling capacity and invest in further fire prevention measures.

In addition to these investments, 75 million has also been invested in the company's second bakery Bredbyn in Örnsköldsvik municipality.

This means that Polarbröd has currently invested almost 500 million after the fire.

- It feels very good that we are now starting to see the contours of our new bakery.

The work with the first stage is going according to plan and we are sticking to our ambition that the first bread cake will come out of the oven at the end of October, says Anders E Johansson, CEO of Polarbröd in a press release.
