Stadtroda (dpa / th) - A man was killed in a rear-end collision with three trucks on the A4.
Three other people were injured, the highway police announced on Tuesday.
A truck had to brake due to traffic on Monday at the Teufelstal rest area shortly after the Hermsdorfer Kreuz.
While a following truck was still able to brake, a following third truck drove up.
The force of the impact pushed one truck onto the other.
A 28-year-old driver died and three other vehicle occupants of the trucks involved were injured.
The motorway had to be closed for about eight hours while the accident was recorded and the vehicles were recovered.
