“The court ruled that the trial was over,” the judge announced.

On April 27, the prosecutor will request punishment for the accused.

The debate will be held behind closed doors.

The ex-policemen previously accused in the Golunov case were extended their arrest until July 20.

Journalist Ivan Golunov was detained on June 6, 2019 in the center of Moscow; a bag of drugs was found in his backpack, which, as the journalist said, had been planted on him.

Subsequently, all charges were dropped from him.

In January 2020, the court arrested Igor Lyakhovets, Denis Konovalov, Roman Feofanov, Akbar Sergaliev and Maxim Umetbaev, who took part in the arrest.

They were charged with abuse of office, falsification of evidence and drug trafficking.

Later Konovalov confessed and was transferred under house arrest.

The other four defendants pleaded not guilty.

The Investigative Committee came to the conclusion that there was no customer in the Golunov case: operational officers planted drugs on him in order to "improve his performance."
