Rostock (dpa / mv) - The largest workshop for international tourism in Germany begins in Rostock on Tuesday. The focus of the three-day Germany Travel Mart (GTM), which this time takes place online, is on approaches to revitalizing the holiday industry, as the managing director of the regional tourism association, Tobias Woitendorf, says. Around 240 German providers and 460 buyers from international travel companies have registered. Future topics such as safe travel, sustainability, health tourism and accessibility would be prepared for the trade visitors.

Even if travel is not yet possible, the exchange with international tour operators about changed framework conditions and travel interests is important, said Woitendorf.

"We have to think beyond Corona."

The GTM is intended to give international tourism a boost.

According to the association, the corona pandemic in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania tourism industry last year brought a drop of 19 percent in overnight stays and as much as 53 percent in overnight stays by foreign guests.
