Westerburg (dpa / lrs) - Fire brigade forces prevented a major fire on Tuesday at a company for window construction in the Westerwald district, presumably by quickly intervening.

As the police announced, a high silo in the company, in which wood shavings were stored, caught fire.

According to the current state of the investigation, the fire should have originated from sparks while working with an angle grinder, it said.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the fire fighters and disaster control had to clear the entire silo.

Around 100 emergency services were on site.

No one was injured, and only minor property damage was caused to the silo, the police said.
