Stuttgart (dpa) - The car and truck manufacturer Daimler has confirmed the imminent departure from HR director Wilfried Porth.

In a statement published by the group on Tuesday, it said that Porth was not aiming to extend its contract, which would expire in April 2022.

The board of directors and the top of the supervisory board have known this "for a long time".

Porth, who will be 63 years old in February, intends to "retire" after leaving Daimler, the company said.

The day before it had become publicly known that Porth's work at Daimler would end in April 2022. However, it remains unclear whether the farewell is entirely voluntary, as now claimed. Porth, who has been a member of the Daimler Board of Management since 2009, is reportedly fatal not least because of the splitting up of the group planned for autumn. The previous Daimler AG as the parent company is to disappear from the scene in the long term and make room for two independent, each listed companies: Mercedes-Benz for cars and vans and Daimler Truck for trucks and buses. Both companies already exist, but are still subordinate to the parent company Daimler.

At Daimler Truck, the previous HR director Jürgen Hartwig will continue to hold this position.

At Mercedes-Benz, Sabine Kohlenisen holds the positions of HR director and labor director - and should probably keep them as well.

Porth has also been head of the Baden-Württemberg metal employers' association Südwestmetall since November.

According to the association, he will also give up this activity in April 2022.

The search for a successor has not yet started, it said.
