Darmstadt (dpa) - Second division soccer team SV Darmstadt 98 surprisingly won 3: 1 (0: 0) against leaders VfL Bochum on Monday evening and thus managed to stay in league mathematically. Substitute Christian Clemens (79th minute) and Serdar Dursun (81st / 86th) scored the goals for Darmstadt, while Robert Tesche (73rd) scored for Bochum. So the South Hesse got ten points from the last four matches. With 42 points now, the lilies, who climbed to tenth place, can no longer be overtaken by Eintracht Braunschweig with only three games left.

«We shot it in two minutes - and rightly so in my eyes.

We did a great series and we're grateful for that.

We are pleased that we have cracked the 40-point mark, ”said coach Markus Anfang at Sky, who also brought about the turnaround in the final phase with his decisions.

Both teams made the impression for long stretches of the game that they were satisfied with one point due to the table constellation.

The promotion candidate had significantly more play, but missed the last consequence in his attacks.

On the other side, the southern Hessians radiated a little more danger with their occasional long-range shots.

Neither Patrick Drewes, who replaced the injured regular goalkeeper Manuel Riemann (broken metacarpus) at Bochum, nor Darmstadt's regular goalkeeper Marcel Schuhe, who returned to goal after a calf injury, were first seriously examined.

That changed at the beginning of the second half when the Darmstadt striker Dursun failed from eleven meters to Drewes.

The game remained intense in the period that followed, also because the southern Hessians were now more active.

But it only got dramatic in the final phase: Tesche gave Bochum the lead with a volley from a corner.

But Clemens with a direct decrease from ten meters and Dursun after a cross pass free in front of the goal turned the game in favor of the home side.

With his second goal, the top scorer made everything clear just before the end.
