Hanover (dpa / lni) - For the 75th birthday of Lower Saxony, Prime Minister Stephan Weil wanted to let it rip.

The SPD politician said that five years ago after a ceremony for the country's 70th birthday - now the corona pandemic could shrink the celebration tremendously.

What the state is planning so far and in what framework - "hopefully" - is to be celebrated, Weil wants to present on Tuesday (11.00 am) in Hanover.

The state of Lower Saxony, the second largest federal state, was brought into being by ordinance of the British military administration on November 1, 1946 from the states of Hanover, Oldenburg, Braunschweig and Schaumburg-Lippe.

Such a territorial conglomerate had never existed in this form before.

At the same time, the “digital human chain” project is to be started with referee Bibiana Steinhaus from Hanover and Keno Veith, who became an internet star as the low-key “Schwatter Ostfrees Jung”.
