Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Via an online portal, voters in Saxony-Anhalt can interview all direct candidates for the state election.

To this end, the dialogue platform parliamentwatch.de launched its question portal on Monday.

The non-profit association Parlamentwatch announced that all of the 300 or so candidates had received a profile for a profile, political goals, campaign pictures and links.

The voters' questions and their answers would be made public.

The dialogue will be moderated around the clock, it said.

Insulting or discriminatory statements would not be activated, nor would questions about private life or unsubstantiated claims.

Interested parties can also find the election programs of the parties and information on state election law on the portal.

State Parliament President Gabriele Brakebusch (CDU) has taken over the patronage of the project.

She said on Monday in Magdeburg that it was important to her to be able to promote democracy and tolerance in this way.

"Especially in times when many classic election campaign formats are not possible, this project offers the opportunity to get information and exchange ideas."

And: "As a long-time parliamentarian, I know how important it is to get in touch with the citizens."

Brakebusch has been a member of the state parliament since 2002.
