Niger affirms its willingness to cooperate with Chad against the rebels of the Fact

According to the Chadian army, it was while fighting against the Fact rebels that Idriss Déby was fatally wounded on Monday April 19.

The transitional military council, which refuses any truce or any dialogue with this movement, ensures that they have withdrawn to neighboring Niger and asks for Niamey's cooperation to neutralize them.

From an official source in Niger, it is now affirmed that the country is fully cooperating with Chad.

According to the same source, the armed forces of the two countries are in permanent contact.

Some arrests have already taken place, without specifying their number for the moment, at the level of Dirkou.

On Sunday April 25, the spokesperson for the Chadian Transitional Military Council (CMT) affirmed that rebels from the Front for Alternation and Concord in Chad (Fact) had been routed by the Chadian armed forces, and that they retreated to Niger.

General Azem Bermandoa Agouna said he was ready to hunt them down, and indeed asked for the cooperation of Niger, and the allies of the G5 Sahel.

Collaboration for reasons of state

Some are already wondering: can a mediator country like Niger take a stand, responding favorably to Ndjamena's demands?

In the Nigerien capital, sources close to the matter assure that yes.

They advance the reason of state to justify this collaboration and recall that the two countries are members of the G5 Sahel.
