For those around the Central African president, these consultations are an opportunity to hear the suggestions of the opposition parties.
The stated objective is to “
turn our backs on security problems
” in an always tense context, despite the receding threat that the armed groups of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC) posed to Bangui.
Recently, the Minister of Justice requested the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of four deputies, as part of an investigation into ex-president François Bozizé, claimed coordinator of the CPC.
According to the spokesperson for the presidency, Albert Yaloké Mokpeme, these deputies will still be welcome
in these discussions.
One of them, Martin Ziguélé, the president of the Central African People's Liberation Movement, remains skeptical about its future effects.
If he asks for a clarification of the government's method, his party will be well represented in the discussions this Tuesday afternoon.
On the other hand, Mahamat Kamoun, president of COD-2020, the main opposition platform, will not physically go to the Renaissance Palace.
He also notes a lot of inconsistency and contradiction in the organization of this dialogue.
A letter with their grievances will nevertheless be sent to the presidency.
