Hanover (dpa / lni) - Two and a half years after the dissolution of the "Young Alternatives", the AfD in Lower Saxony again founded a youth organization at the weekend.

"I warmly welcome the establishment of a new" Young Alternative ", in which I was also active for a long time in the past," said AfD member of the state parliament Stephan Bothe on Monday.

"With the newly elected chairwoman Rebecca Seidler and her deputy Adrian Maxhuni, I know that the organization is in trustworthy hands and I look forward to constructive cooperation."

In response to an observation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Lower Saxony, the AfD youth organization dissolved its Lower Saxony state association with around 150 members in November 2018.

At the time, the authority assessed the JA as anti-constitutional and wanted to keep an eye on the group despite the formal dissolution.

Bothe now said that with the re-establishment, the AfD could "now again offer young people a real alternative to the political mainstream".
