April 26, 2021 American tourists who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 this summer will be able to travel to Europe: according to reports from

the New York Times

, the president of the EU commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in an interview with US newspaper. "The Americans - explains von der Leyen - use vaccines also approved by the EMA and this will enable them to travel to the European Union. And one thing is clear: all 27 member states will accept, without conditions, all those who they are vaccinated with EMA approved vaccines ".

Von der Leyen did not give a specific timing, but the newspaper writes that the new rules could be put in place as early as this summer, while vaccinations increase worldwide. The president noted the "tremendous progress" of the vaccination campaign in the United States, which is on track to vaccinate 70% of the adult population by mid-June.

The trips will depend "on the epidemiological situation, but in the United States the situation is improving, as, we hope, the European Union". For weeks, there have been technical discussions between the European Union and the United States on how to make the vaccination certificates of each place practically and technologically legible so that citizens can use them for unrestricted travel. It is possible that a low-tech solution will be used in the near future to allow people to travel freely on the basis of vaccination.
