Göppingen (dpa / lsw) - A canoe that is driven empty on the Neckar has triggered a large search operation with over a hundred emergency services.

Several witnesses reported a woman with a child in a boat on the Neckar near Neckargemünd (Rhein-Neckar district) and a short time later the unoccupied canoe, the police said on Monday night.

To ensure that no people are in danger, the entire area on and in the water was searched on Sunday evening by over a hundred emergency services, including divers - without any results.

"We do not assume that there were people in the water or that it is an emergency," said a spokesman for the German press agency after the end of the mission.

On the unoccupied canoe, there was no evidence of people who were previously on board.

According to the information, there is no connection to the reported second boat.

The woman and her child could be found safely at home.
