UAE sends food aid to Mauritania

Today, the UAE sent an aid plane containing 49 tons of foodstuffs to Mauritania, as part of the humanitarian initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan, to provide for the needs of a segment of the population suffering from difficult humanitarian conditions, as a result of the conditions imposed by the repercussions of the "Covid-19" pandemic.

The country's ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Hamad Ghanem Al-Muhairi, said: “The UAE always seeks to provide all possible support to enhance the humanitarian response and help all brotherly Arab countries in such circumstances that require solidarity and cooperation to overcome the harsh effects of the“ Covid-19 ”pandemic on societies. Especially women and children. "

He added, "Since the start of the pandemic, and as part of its tireless efforts to support workers in the Mauritanian health sector, the UAE has sent 3 medical aid planes that carried 33.2 tons that included 352,000 corona test kits and 70 respirators, and about 33.2 thousand medical personnel benefited from them."

To date, the UAE has provided more than 1944 tons of medical aid to more than 135 countries, benefiting about 1.9 million medical workers in the face of the "Covid-19" pandemic.
